Scalfani family dogs

There's definitely more info out there on Rolex, Zoey and Hashley/Dolce. |
The Scalfani family has seen its share of pet dogs over the years, but any canine unlucky enough to land in their hands is not exactly in for a life of tail-wagging bliss.
With a revolving door of pets treated more like temporary accessories than lifelong companions, the Scalfanis' track record with their four-legged "family members" raises eyebrows, and plenty of questions. Jack has also stated that he refuses to get his dogs treated if the operation costed more than the price he paid for their adoption.[1] It's a good thing Jack hates cats at least...[2]
Cupcake
Cupcake was a full-blooded Beagle and Jack's first known dog from the California years.[3] She was referenced in videos as early as November 2008[4] and lived well into the move to 157 Trail Ridge Drive. Transporting the dog between homes was complicated, with Jack stating he spent $150 to have her sent with a kennel on, taking two flights due to temperature considerations.[5] According to Joe Chavez, Cupcake got really fat late in its life.[6] Jack first stated Cupcake was dead in November 2017, however she likely died earlier, with her last mention in a video being from August 2015.[7][8]
Unlike certain later dogs, Cupcake did not appear much in videos at all; in fact Jack actively tried keeping her off-camera, shooing her whenever she tried entering the kitchen,[9] and being annoyed at viewers asking him to show her.[10]

Rolex
Rolex was a Miniature Pinscher owned by Garrett sometime in the 2010s. It was cremated upon death, and in true Garrett fashion, its ashes were placed in a special-made bong. On 4 February 2025, Garrett's other dogs Hashley and Dolce smashed the bong in an accident.[11]

Chief and Luna
Chief and Luna were a pair of labradors adopted for free by Junior and Brianna on 5 February 2022, presumably under the notion that two large dogs would somehow thrive in a small apartment with zero regard for the building's pet policies.[12]
Junior and Brianna, in their infinite wisdom, decided the best course of action after realising they couldn't keep the dogs was to flip them like rare sneakers. On 11 May, they listed the dogs on Craigslist for $1000 - a move that violated both the site's terms of service and basic common decency.[13][14] Unsurprisingly, the listing was quickly taken down.[15] Undeterred by their failed attempt at profiting off living beings, the dynamic duo tried again on 28 May, this time slashing the "price" to $800. Craigslist's moderators, however, were quick to shut it down once more.[16] The dogs eventually left the Scalfanis' hands by another undisclosed method. One can only hope the dogs ended up in a far better situation - possibly with owners who saw them as pets rather than assets.

HOPE
| “ | Jack only wanted HOPE for those first few puppy months to gain the narc hit. Now she's just a liability that isn't housebroken, never gets walks, and is now shackled with a shock collar because Jagoff nor the fat bitch Hammy bothered to train her. No enrichment, no walks - confined at 103 Thomas Court.[17] | ” |
After little under eight years without owning a dog, Jack brought in the "web-footed Beagle" Hope (or HOPE in all caps) in March 2022.[18] Jack used Hope as a mascot for Cooking with Jack for some time, integrating her into the show's intro and overall branding, before inevitably becoming bored of it and setting her aside as a background piece. Jack has quite the documented love-hate relationship with Hope.
"Pure bread"
Before her arrival, Jack claimed Hope was a "full-blooded Beagle from a reputable breeder."[19] Jack repeatedly doubled down on this assertion across multiple Facebook posts, confidently telling commenters that Hope was a beagle "through and through." However, from the moment the first photos surfaced, Jack observers were doubtful. Hope's lanky frame, mismatched markings, and overall appearance did not align with the typical beagle look. Instead, many pointed out that she resembled a mutt rather than the floppy-eared hound Jack insisted she was.
People continued asking if Hope was a mixed breed instead, and on 5 May, Jack finally a now-infamous comment admitting: "She wasn't pure bread. They lied to us." Jack claimed that the vet had informed him that Hope was a beagle-collie mix, and expressed frustration that the breeder had duped him. He added: "Next time I'll want papers" as though the lack of pedigree documentation was a minor oversight rather than a glaring red flag.[20] For many, this admission confirmed what had long been suspected: Hope likely came from a backyard breeder rather than a professional kennel. Reputable breeders always provide pedigree papers to verify lineage, especially for popular breeds like beagles.
Despite this incident, Jack's stubborn refusal to admit he could be wrong only intensified. In an attempt to silence critics, Jack shared a baffling story involving his air-conditioning technician, who allegedly identified Hope as a "web-footed Beagle" and a "water dog". According to Jack, the technician confidently explained that Hope's webbed paws were proof of her aquatic heritage.[21] However, canine experts and casual dog owners alike were quick to point out that slight webbing is common in beagles - and many other dog breeds - and is not indicative of some mythical sub-breed of water-loving "beagles".
Neglect and the "Eternal Harness"
Jack's initial excitement over Hope seemed to wane once the novelty of puppyhood wore off. This was underscored during a Cooking with Jack livestream on 10 September 2023, where Jack admitted to using a shock collar for "training." At the 22:13 mark, Jack described how he and Tammy used the device:
We have a shock collar that we use for training on Hope... We use the first two buttons—the first one is a beep, the second is a vibration. That's as far as we go... unless she's doing something dangerous, like climbing up on the stove. Then we apply the shock.[22]
Jack attempted to justify the shock by comparing it to the mild static shock from touching a rug. He claimed they kept it at a "nice low level", and only used the actual shock function sparingly. Despite his defensive explanation, the admission was met with harsh criticism. Many viewers were horrified that Jack would consider such methods necessary due to his and Tammy's own failure to properly train their dog.
In an earlier video uploaded on 20 April 2022 titled "3 Ingredient KETO Bread", Jack nonchalantly detailed another "training" technique:
I get down on the floor, and we're playing, and she bites me. And I'm like, no biting- stop it- and I tap her on the mouth... She bites me again, even faster, and I'm like bam, so I tap her a little bit harder.[23]
He framed the situation as a battle for dominance, saying: "Bottom line is, she's gonna lose." Viewers speculated that Jack's "tapping" was actually slapping the dog, further fueling concerns about his approach to pet ownership.
Hope as a prop
Jack's use of Hope as a prop in his content solidified this perception. In his Cooking with Jack Show intros, Hope was prominently featured in thumbnails, and barking sound effect - completely irrelevant to cooking - were added. Critics accused Jack of using Hope to add a performative "family charm" to his struggling YouTube channel rather than genuinely caring for her.
The depth of Jack's neglect was laid bare on an 13 April 2022 cooking video, where he candidly admitted that Hope was not house-trained. Laughing awkwardly, Jack described how Hope "loves crapping in the kitchen" and frequently defecated in front of the refrigerator.[24] The comment was met with widespread disgust, especially given that Jack films his "cooking show" in the same space.
Zoey
Zoey, also known as ZOE, is Junior and Brianna's pitbull which was adopted in September 2023.[25] According to Jack, Zoey was a rescue dog who was "being trained to do things she shouldn't do", like "competition crap and illegal stuff".[26]
During a 15 May 2024 livestream, Tammy was heard in the background roaring that she was going to "KILL FRICKING ZOEY IN A MINUTE". She later explained that she was trying to treat Zoey for fleas.[27] This event regardless showed that Tammy was not particularly fond of the dog.

Hashley and Dolce
Hashley is a "chocolate tri merle micro Thai X American bully" adopted by Garrett on 27 April 2024.[28][29] On 8 May, he also bought Dolce, a "chocolate tri nano" as a sister.[30] Garrett has taken great pride in raising these two mutant spawns, taking them to competition shows and even making a separate Instagram account to show them off, although the latter was hardly ever used before its deletion in April 2026.[31]
These dogs are severely inbred, resulting in the "molten deformed looks" that are apparently quite prized. Inbreeding in pit bull-type dogs is often used by some breeders to "fix" profitable traits: oversized heads, crushed muzzles, heavy muscle, squat bodies, bowed limbs, rare coat colours, and "tight" pedigrees - that buyers are meant to read as quality, rather than a family tree shaped like a paperclip.[32] In Exotic Bully and Micro Bully lines, this has encouraged increasingly extreme body shapes, because close-kin breeding makes the desired look more predictable, while also giving harmful recessive genes the red-carpet treatment. The worst examples are often described online as "molten" or "melted": dogs with sagging folds, twisted limbs, barely-there muzzles, huge skulls, breathing trouble, eye disease, skin problems, joint pain, and the general structural integrity of a dropped pudding. The "molten" look is therefore not a genuine breed feature, so much as the end product of inbreeding and extreme body-shape selection being allowed to run the kennel like a cursed Etsy shop.[33]

Jenny
Jenny is a doodle-type dog that Junior got to be a "friend" of Zoey. She was acquired on 2 September 2024.[34] Not much is known about her otherwise. She has been seen in multiple Cooking with Jack videos, indicating that it is the seniors who often take care of her instead.
