Jack arrives in Texas expecting a grand reception to bring him to the investors. Rather than a stretch limo he is picked up by the elderly Gil, nicknamed "Ther Tenderzier" by the other investors. Jack proceeds to tell Gil about his own line of BBQ sauces he produces and lets him know he is looking for (monetary) help. Jack arrives and is taken aback by the decor. He attempts to shake hands but is asked to stand aside so the investors can soak him in. Jack attempts to stat his sales pitch but is interrupted so the investors can picture him with his sauces. Mike 'Rooster' McConaughey makes the comment that Jack is the only Sicilian BBQ sauce maker he has known. Displayed are 3 of Jack's [[The Best Sauces|sauces]] and his gourmet seasoning. Investor Wayne 'Butch' Gilliam says coming to Texas and claiming you have the best sauce is not a good idea. Jack offers to let them taste the sauce and they decline.

Jack's pitch was ultimately unsuccessful. The episode is mainly remembered for Jack crying on air, as he is scolded for using the television appreance to promote his [[Cooking with Jack (Youtube series)|YouTube channel]].  
Jack wants $300,000 investment for 20% of the company putting the total valuation at $1.5 million. Jack says his best year selling sauce was $106,000. He guesses they made $35,000 in profit. the investors are upset that Jack is failing to answer basic business questions.  


Jack says he is in 150 Walmart stores on the West Coast and the investors remind him there are over 4,000 Walmart stores.  
The episode, "A Time to Grill", was aired on CNBC on 11 August 2015.


The YouTube series is now mentioned as a marketing driver. Jack claims he receives 1 to 1.5 million views per month. Jack claims he makes between $3,000 to $5,000 per month in revenue from the YouTube show. He lets the investors know the YouTube show is not part of the BBQ sauce company and is not part of this deal because the cooking show is part of Jack and he is not selling a part of himself.

In 2012, Jack attempted to sell his sauce line on ''Shark Tank'', creating a now-lost pitch video which the producers allegedly liked. Somewhere around July 2015, Jack was approached by CNBC to appear on ''West Texas Investors Club'', which he accepted. Jack claims ''Shark Tank'' re-approached him two weeks after being signed onto ''WTIC'', which he then turned down.<ref name="SharkTankBlogpost"/>
Jack is now placed into a BBQ competition with a local BBQ pitmaster, Dustin. Dustin declines shaking hands with Jack which clearly upsets him. at the BBQ competition Jack sees using an offset smoker fueled by wood. He tells Gil he has never used a wood fired offset smoker to which Gil questions if Jack has ever started a fire before and he has only ever used a torch in a video game. Jack falls behind on cooking and is seriously behind schedule. He receives a lot of help from Gil, Butch, and Rooster. The meat is shown and is still raw.    Jack spends a large amount of time talking to the lunch participants. The judges do a vote on whose sauce they preferred. Wayne 'Butch' Gilliam pretends he is going to choose Jack's plate but ends up choosing Dustin's plate and this infuriates Jack. Gil now counts the plates to determine the winner. The show does a poor job of editing it to make it seem like Jack was close to Dustin. Dustin was declared the winner.

Jack is feeling attacked at this point as the investors tell him his company is only worth 4 times his profit from the previous year. The investors then accuse Jack of coming on the show to promote his YouTube channel instead of actually looking for a deal. At this point Jack begins to cry because he feels they are calling him a liar. Jack continues to cry claiming the investors do not know him. He says he was more concerned people at the competition were loved on and fed than him winning the contest. He says he gives his sauces away because he wants people to enjoy his food. The investors apologize to Jack for making him cry. Jack does not get a deal.

== The Aftermath ==
Jack arrives in Texas, seemingly expecting a grand reception to bring him to the investors. Rather than a stretch limo, he is picked up with a rusty pick-up truck by the elderly Gil Prather, nicknamed "The Tenderizer". Jack proceeds to tell Prather about his own line of sauces he produces, and lets him know that he is looking for (monetary) help.
Jack continues to sell his sauces aafter the show airs. He revamps his sauce line to remove high-fructose corn syrup and corn syrup and begins selling them online. Eventually he attempt to sell the sauce company with no known buyers at this time.
 
Jack arrives and is taken aback by the setting. He displays some of his products to investors Mike "Rooster" McConaughey and Wayne "Butch" Gilliam, and attempts to make his sales pitch, but is quickly interrupted so the investors can "soak him in". McConaughey comments that Jack "is the only Italian BBQ sauce maker [he has] known." After telling the alleged origin story of the sauce brand, Jack offers the investors a taste test, but they decline. The investor duo are overall sceptical of Jack's claims.

After the first pitch meeting, Jack is tasked to serve a hundred people at a BBQ competition against local pitmaster Dustin, with Prather serving as his assistant. Dustin declines shaking hands with Jack, upsetting him. Jack struggles to begin cooking, claiming he has never used a wood fired offset smoker, which bewilders Prather. The investors enter the scene and are shocked by the "clusterfuck" Jack has created, as he falls behind and is seriously behind schedule. The investors eventually decide to help Jack, although acknowledging that he will probably lose. As the investors manage the grill, Jack wanders off and spends a large amount of time talking to lunch participants, which angers the group.
 
The four judges begin a vote on whose sauce they preferred. Gilliam pretends he is going to choose Jack's plate, but ends up choosing Dustin's plate, infuriating Jack and creating a tie. Prather begins counting leftover plates to determine the winner. Although the counting is obfuscated to make it seem like Jack was close to Dustin, the latter is easily declared the winner.

On the final meeting the next day, the investors decide the ownership of the ''Cooking With Jack Show'' must be included in the investment package, concluding that the sauce would not sell without Jack's image. Jack fiercly declines, and gets defensive as the investors tell him his company is only worth four times his profit from the previous year. After Jack suggests that he no longer wants a deal, the investors accuse Jack of only coming on the show to appear on television and promote his YouTube channel.
 
Jack begins to break down, feeling that the investors are calling him a liar. Jack says he wants to prioritize his reputation over money, claiming to be more concerned that people at the competition were loved on and fed than him winning the contest. He explains his low profit by claiming that he gives sauces away because he wants people to enjoy his food, tearing up in the process. The investors get weirded out by Jack's tone, and apologize for making him cry. Nevertheless, Jack does not get a deal and leaves empty-handed.
 
==Aftermath==
Jack did not address his appearance on the show after the airing of the episode, presumably out of humiliation. The eppisode is largely regarded as the beginning of Jack's downfall, combined with his [[Sunday Evening Coffee|appearance on the ''Sunday Evening Coffee'' podcast]]. Jack continued to sell The Best Sauces up until early 2023.
