LARPing as some kind of a showbiz guru, Jack has made multiple dubious claims about pop culture, trying to present himself as an insider.

SpongeBob SquarePants story

Jack has repeatedly claimed to have known about the Nickelodeon cartoon series SpongeBob SquarePants before it was shown to the public. The story goes that, while Jack was an artist manager in Hollywood, he attended a luncheon in 2000 where an upcoming cartoon about a square sponge character was presented. Jack claims his first reaction was: "Are you kidding me? This show is so not going to work." As the preview revealed the name SpongeBob SquarePants, Jack thought: "That's the worst name ever. It's totally going to die, right?" Jack admits that he was wrong, and he has come to enjoy the show.

A major hole in this story: SpongeBob SquarePants first premiered in July 1999, a year before the supposed luncheon happened. Jack has never addressed this discrepancy, and has repeated the story as late as August 2026. Lying about something like this is strange, and perhaps Jack has simply misremembered the exact year. Assuming the story is real, it is also possible the luncheon preview happened already after the show aired, even if Jack did not know of it, certainly making his bragging less impressive.
